Well, Paul Pierce deserves the nod. I thought Rajon Rondo did as well but I guess he was hurt for a few weeks which hurt his case.

Feb 9, 2012 - BOSTON - Paul Pierce, who passed Larry Bird on the Boston Celtics all-time scoring list in the team's last game, has reportedly been voted into the 2012 NBA All-Star Games on February 26, 2012 in Orlando, Florida. Pierce is the only representative of the Celtics to be selected to this game. This is Pierce's 10th All-Star selection during his career. Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Brandon Bass were all snubbed for the game. "I like them all to [make it]," said Celtics head coach Doc Rivers. "I guess the rest this year would be important, but overall it would be a good achievement."
Not sure I'd call Brandon Bass a "snub" but that's just picking nits. I'm just glad that KG and Ray will get to rest (and Rondo will be forced to).

What he does on both ends of the court for this team is still all star caliber, but I’m happy he’s gonna rest anyway.

For selfish reasons....
I’m quite happy, the C’s only have 1… heck, I wanted to be greedy and hoped that we didn’t get an all-star… but only for rest-purposes given this injury-bug-driven season. But yeah, as Doc said, “Overall, it would be a great achievement”. I’m sure Rondo would’ve been there too had he not been injured.

Rondo hasn't played enough games
That’s the main argument, I have seen. Deron Williams has been very up and down this season, and imo Irving should have that spot.

yea i think you can make an arguemnt for irving
and yea, rondos injury is a pretty valid reason and before his injury the celtics record was 5wins to 6 losses, and rondo returned after paul pierce had already gotten his groove back and started to carry the celtics. In other words rondos play has not yet been felt by non-celtics fans…while paul pierces resurgence has.

I think that the reserves that are picked should come from winning teams. I don’t care how many games rondo missed. Deng missed just as many games and he made it. Rondo most definetly deserved an all-star spot.

bulls defense and offense blatantly suffered without deng
and both were noticeably much much much better when he returned. It was pierce who changed the way the celtics were playing, once he started playing well the team started doing well.
At any rate, the bulls are the most winningest team in the east right now, so by your criterium its the bulls who deserve to have multiple all-stars not the celtics anyway….

i was going off this
but now i see where your logic was coming from. I still think that d.will, bad team or not, played well enough (as the stats showed) and for more of the season than rondo. I dont really think either have done anything really to earn an all-star spot, i wouldve actually chosen Lou Williams from philly, hes been playing phenominal and is a big reason the 76ers are winning so many games.

Should be the factor. That’s like take John wall because he is the best player on that team. At the end of the day, they still only won four games! The same should be said for Steve Nash, he’s another one that does not deserve a spot on the all-star team.

nash is just as amazing as hes ever been, his team isnt winning because its an inferior team, but hes not just playing like an all-star, hes playing damn near his mvp level from years back. An all-star vote or selection isnt about team play its about individuals. Individuals that have been playing at high levels deserve to be all-stars. Pierce is an all-star not because the celtics are winning, but because hes been playing at that high of level lately. Stats are part of the story, but its really about this noticeable level of play, those are the people who should be all-stars.
I dont know if deron williams should be an all-star, and we agree that much, but the idea that only winning teams deserve all-stars is riduculous, and it creates real snubs, while giving selection to people like mo williams who never deserve that spot

My whole logic is
that there are many more deserving ppl in the east with winning records that deserve that spot, but now when you go throwing in ppl who only have the stats that they have because everybody else on the team sucks and they have to do everything in order to even give themselves a chance, that’s unfair. Rondo is playing on a very good team with hall of fame players who are playing very well, and he stood out. I think that is why i’m so annoyed with him being passed over for a spot.

its much easier to get higher numbers when the games don't matter (like on a losing team)
if you’re down big, and dont care about winning, you’ll take more shots to pat your stats. Deron Williams’s numbers should be taken with a grain of salt
