Nothing too Earth shattering here, but nice to hear from a prospective (restricted) free agent.
3. You are a restricted free agent after this year, could you see yourself playing in a place like Boston?
Mayo: Yeah sure. If there is an NBA team I’d be happy to play there. But right now my main goal is to play for Memphis and hopefully help get them their first NBA Championship.
4. Is there any stigma about Boston? In the past not all athletes have wanted to play in Boston, it took KG some convincing. Does that still exist?
Mayo: I’ve never heard of that. It’s always been one of the top organizations in basketball. Ever since you were a little boy start playing basketball you always heard about the Boston Celtics and Larry Bird, all the great players, it’s always been a great organization.
Not sure what else he was going to say, but it is nice that he said it anyway. At the very least, I'm sure his agent would love for us to drive up the price on the Grizzlies or any other bidders.

I for one
Hope we get him. My #1 target in free agency this summer.

Yes...

Funny
My friend hates Memphis more than Lakers and Heat, just because of him…

Is he a C's fan?
Because that will be interesting if we get him haha

Any free agent would be dumb to not want to play here
Do they not want a great coach? Do they not like to win world championships? Do they not like when a whole city and state loves them? Do they not want to be put in the Hall of Fame forever? Do they not like fans who go ballistic at the Garden and care about them day in and day out? Do they not want to learn how to win in this league from the best who have ever lived? It’s silly to not want to play here, this is the best place in the world to play.

+100
and plus surrounded with 17 championship everyday in the garden and more coming.

Did KG ever suggest that a racial stigma contributed to his original disinterest in playing for the C's?
This reporter kid implies that is so—and uses it as implicit evidence that the stigma has been a recent problem—without actually saying it.

Yeah, I'm not sure that was ever an issue for KG.
More likely it was his initial reaction to looking at the W-L record of the 2006-2007 Celtics and say, “Wait – what? You want me to go into THAT mess???”
Thank goodness Danny was able to put together and implement The Plan™ that convinced him to come here!
mmmmm - February 6, 2012
That, as I recall, is exactly what it was reported to be.

ditto
Although Boston is not known as a tremendously racially sensitive town for other sports.
The Celtics as an organization have never demonstrated the kind of culture that a free agent would dislike. But most of the time a guy that’s a free agent looking to change teams is looking for a team that’s got a chance a ring. If they wanted to get over payed to be on a team that sucked, they’d stay with their current team.

OJ Mayo for Kevin Love
Probably the worst trade of drafted rookies ever and Minnesota, for once, wasn’t on the wrong side of it. I would vote NO on OJ Mayo. something very non-Celtic aobut him.
