Tell me when this starts to sound familiar.
Grizzlies Fail To Close Out The Thunder, Streak Ends At Two Games - Straight Outta Vancouver
The first three quarters of last night's game between the Grizzlies and the Thunder were, well, great. Memphis showed strong effort on both sides of the ball, closing out on Kevin Durant, dominating the paint on offense, etc., etc., etc. But, as is the case with the 2011-12 Grizzlies, they once again fail to close out on title contending teams in the 4th quarter. Having been outscored 32-17 in the 4th, the Grizzlies gave up a once 10-point lead on their way to losing 101-94.
Granted, giving up an epic collapse to the title contending Thunder is one thing. Doing the same to the rebuilding Cavs is another. Still, I think at least part of this has to do with the oddball season that we're experiencing this year. Either it is legs failing or lack of preparation or just not being mentally prepared for a full 48 minutes. Regardless, today's matchup should be an interesting one.

Sure, if we ignore that it’s something that has been plaguing this team since the 2007-2008 season. This is not a recent problem.

Big Leads
For the C’s this goes back further than that. I always remember thinking and still think that if the C’s go into half-time with a big lead, trouble is ahead. I think the C’s have always played better when games are close, right up to the end. (less than 8 point difference either way).
I think it’s just normal for teams to relax when they have a big lead. I don’t think they even realize they are doing it.

Finally- a game that I can watch in the evening, without staying up all night.
Now let’s hope the Cs come out firing on all cylinders, and blow Memphis out of the water. It’ll likely be a lot closer than that, but I’ll settle for a win.

Wish granted!
A very, very enjoyable game. Contributions from everybody but Bass (who took the night off with a boo-boo left knee).
Hopefully Bass will be fine.
JJ got the minutes in his place and looked great, 10 points, 2 BS, 4 rebs, 1 steal in his 20 minutes. Chris Wilcox also looked great tonight – man he has nice moves at the basket.

Oh, yeah. These are the types of games I could sit through all night, every night, if I have to.

Nice article about Perk. Seems OKC is starting to appreciate what he does. All sounds familiar.
