To nobody's surprise, the Celtics didn't get any players voted into the All Star game starting lineup.
2012 NBA All-Star Game -- Miami Heat, Los Angeles teams fill All-Star starters - ESPN
Defending NBA MVP Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls was voted a starting guard along with Wade in the East, with the Knicks' Carmelo Anthony joining James at forward and Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic at center. The starters were chosen by fan balloting. Howard was the leading vote-getter with 1.6 million votes.
Pierce started out the season hurt and then was slow to turn the corner (but boy has he turned it). Kevin Garnett also started off slow but has picked things up considerably - especially on his trademark defense. Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen each started off pretty hot but have had injuries slow them down lately.
On one hand I'd argue that having no Celtics in the game would be nice in that they could just go home and rest. But it is an honor, so it might be nice to have a representative. Hey, let's send Brandon Bass! (Only half kidding, that guy has been enormous for us this year)
So, regardless on how you feel about rest vs. honor, if you had to pick just one Celtic, who do you think has the best argument to be added to the team?

blessings come in different forms, shapes or sizes...
having nobody on the all-star roster is a blessing, i’d rather that they get a good rest for the break..besides, its all showbusiness after all, showboating rather..with the shortened season taking its toll on their lives&limbs, getting banner 18 is a more honorable goal than all the accolades you get from the all-star..what do you think?

Beat me to it...
Agree 100%.
bonzo22 - February 3, 2012
Is there a championship team that never had an all star?
vgarcia890 - February 3, 2012
it's relative
Keep in mind that Russel qould just mail in All-star games most of the time. The only ones where he would actually try were the years that Wilt was on the opposite squad.
I’m more excited to see what Doc can do with the extra days to practice.

When and why
A Boston All Star Game?
bbeingphilled - February 3, 2012 via mobile
Blake griffin
who and why voted for that guy? all he does is pull off those same stupid dunks every night.. ne can’t shoot, play d or anything else.. kevin love is 10 times better
relja111 - February 3, 2012
Lol so much hate
Blake averages 22 nd 11 while shooting 53% he’s not a below average run of the mill player. And fans vote the starters you kno Blake is a highlight machine so of course he’ll get more fan votes
throwedoff - February 3, 2012
Dude
He is averaging 20 and 10 on the Clippers.. The Clippers, and his field goals are all dunks and layups.. He can’t really shoot.
It’s extremely unfair that someone who throws up a couple of dunks is more appreciated than someone more skilled and realiable (Kevin Love).
relja111 - February 6, 2012
Ten times better? Damn.
muckduck - February 3, 2012
Yes
He is older, more experienced, can shoot, is reliable and has a better sence of clutch in key moments when the clock is running out.. I’m not even gonna start talking about defence.
relja111 - February 6, 2012
maybe watching more games will do better for you...
Karasu - February 3, 2012
I do watch games
But c’mon, he is averaging 20 and 10 on the Clippers team.. The Clippers…
And he never shoots, he just dunk or posts up crappy layups.. Even Shaq could do that.
relja111 - February 6, 2012
Rajon Rondo all the way
He’s still the best player on our team
Clench - February 3, 2012
Maybe....
Being passed over for this “honor” will allow this team to play with an even bigger chip on their shoulders.
prov1ml - February 3, 2012
+1

Rondo
He wants it and it can help him now, when Avery is steeling his starting spot with honest defence and strong cuts to the basket… :-D
ugly_joe - February 3, 2012
nobody.
Rondo has played well at times and not so well at other times and he’s missed too much time in this shortened season. Pierce played poorly for half of the season thus far and then kicked it into gear.
I don’t think any of them would say they deserved it right now because to this team(minus Glen Davis) it is all about winning. They know they haven;t played up to their standards.
CelticsFanNC - February 3, 2012
hmm ... Melo & Lebron
So the East will not start with a true PF?
mmmmm - February 3, 2012 via iPhone app
Nope, but Lebron’s been playing a lot of four this year so I guess it’s alright? Bosh deserved the starting spot over Carmelo, but no one likes the Boshtrich so it isn’t surprising.
muckduck - February 3, 2012
Not like Blake is really a PF either.
Kungfuguy - February 3, 2012
It sucks to see Anthony get that spot
The Knicks are awful, and I’m not sure that Anthony filling up the stat line is actually making them any better. Pierce is a better choice if that slot is going to a small forward.
but that’s fan voting for you
sofutomygaha - February 3, 2012
That's the truth.
Cousin It - February 3, 2012
Maybe tonight's game
Will prove that Paul Pierce is better than Carmelo Anthiny :D
SparzWizard - February 3, 2012
Ray Allen
The most Consistent Celtic player this season.
Dptdgclick - February 3, 2012
That's the truth.
Cousin It - February 3, 2012
Just a note
First time since 1999 that KG is not an All-Star, and only the second time since 1996. What a run!
rondo723 - February 3, 2012
Don't be surprised if he's picked as an alternate.
But yeah, what a run.
mmmmm - February 3, 2012
coaches pick alternates
KG wont be picked for sure, coaches base it on talent instead of popularity
bostonceltics - February 3, 2012
Not to mention that in the earlier years the west was filled with PF's like Duncan, Nowitzki, Webber etc
Karasu - February 3, 2012
I gotta go with
Captain Pierce. He holds the team together and honestly..the all star games/weekends arent even fun to watch anymore. Too many commercials and not enough basketball. I dont want to watch a kia commercial i want to see some great shots and dunks
