Source: Rose wants to play with Pau Gasol if Lakers trade him
Derrick Rose has let it be known to Bulls management that we wants to play with Pau Gasol if Chicago is able to swing a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers for the veteran power forward from Spain, a source close to Rose told SheridanHoops.com on Sunday. The Spanish news outlet Marca was the first to report Sunday that Rose has given his blessing for the Bulls to go after Gasol with a package that would be centered around Carlos Boozer and another player. "He hasn’t said so publicly, but he has made that known privately," said the source, who spoke to SheridanHoops.com on condition of anonymity.
Before you get too worked up about this - consider that Boozer has 3 years left on his deal and Mich Kupchack isn't anyone's dummy.

"Of course we'll talk to a lot of teams [about trades], like everybody else does, leading up until the trade deadline to see if there is a way to improve the team," Kupchak said. "But the likelihood is that this is the team that's going to finish into the playoffs. That's just the way it normally works, but we'll see."
I'm sure they'd like to get some young talent (or say, ...Dwight Howard) in exchange for Pau Gasol, but I don't think Boozer is going to get it done. But that's just me. I'm no MVP, what do I know?

media over reaction
i doubt Rose went to management and specifically asked for them to trade for Pau?

More likely
Rose winds up with Ray Allen as his running mate than Gasol. The Bulls can’t depend
on the brittle Rip Hamilton.

Kupchack would have to be a complete moron for this to happen and I don't think he is
The only person beside Rose on the Bulls that has trade value is Noah, but his contract is a fair one not a bargain so the demand isn’t super high. Also his defense/rebounding is great but his offense is much crappier than Gasol. Deng is good but overpaid, and Boozer is just overpaid. Boozer+parts is a huge downgrade for the Lakers, Gasol is better on offense and much much better on defense. Gasol is also big enough to play center and guard most centers. Rose wasn’t particularly excited about Lebron or Wade going to the Bulls (of course he wouldn’t mind but he didn’t want to go out of his way) hard to see him getting more excited about Pau, though I am sure Rose likes Gasol’s demeanor more than those 2.
