Yeah we have given this team enough time

I was hoping it was just a slow start due to not being ready for the lockout. Also the Celtics run a large variety of plays on both sides of the ball, I hoped it was a matter of all the new guys adjusting and the team gelling. It seems like there are more issues than conditioning and chemistry. The big 3 are too old and Rondo isn’t good enough to carry this team as a franchise player. The team just doesn’t have the right talent now to be a true contender, the younger players are only role players they are not able to become the stars of this team. I will not count this team out, they have shown they can pull off some amazing things just that the odds are completely stacked against them, even more than the 2009-2010 that played .500 ball for most of the season.

There is so much blame to go around. And AGAIN why was it a great idea for DA to base every freakin decision on this summers cap space starting the summer after the title???? The only really key guy coming out is Dwight and there is no great reason to expect him to want to be here. It made NO sense. Multiple contracts with this coming summer in mind. Getting rid of Perk to clear space. Unreal

4 points, 6 boards, and a block in only 15 minutes. That works out to 11 points, 16 boards, and 2.7 blocks per 40 minutes. And his +/- was +1.

Other then that horrible fade away shot that Greg took that was rejected by Wallace I think he played ok.

Though the younger players like Greg, JJ and Bradley did not have great games tonight, its games like these where they will learn (from there mistakes also) which will help them develop and make them better players in the long term.

Yea I agree he is kinda mechanical in the post on offense when they “set him up” in a 1/2 court offense and he does not have any post moves other then a hook shot.
Greg needs a big man camp where some one can teach him the basics of big man scoring in the paint and maybe teach him some low post moves.
But he is still young and has time to learn to improve this weak spot of his game.

I disagree he is slow as I think he is pretty fast and athletic and can run the floor and finish strong around the rim on offense when fed the ball in transition.

But lets keep, any scoring from Greg will probably be considered gravy ala Perk and his main job will be to rebound, clog the paint with his size and length, block and alter shots and run the floor which I think he does fairly well so far in just his 1st year in the NBA.

I like him...he may some PO-tential but I agree on the Big Man Camp....hire Chief! I have said that for years

but when I say young I mean it in the sense its his 1st year playing in the NBA and he still has time to grow and develop his game as he learns to play at the NBA level and against NBA caliber players.

Tommy is a HOF Player, he won 10 championships as a player and coach. He loves the Celtics - He is the Celtics!!! He has devoted his entire life to the Celtics

Yeah Tommy is an old school guy and blatantly biased, but so what. He knows the game of basketball and makes it entertaining, he still has a passion for the game after so many years. There are announcers that are objective, and more informed than Tommy out there we all know that. That does not mean Tommy is worse or that he should try to copy them, Some of us like to get into the game but also like to be entertained, Tommy adds to the entertainment.

The game had zero life because there was no charisma from the team or the announcers. At least T has some passion and understands the game. I assume you do know that it wasn’t Tommy announcing the game so kind of wonder the relevance of your comment in the first place.

This is a good question

The fact is that when a team stinks, it DOES lose many fans, as evidenced by falling ticket sales and TV viewership. So IF a fan felt like this team was not worth his/her time and energy anymore, that would be both normal and understandable.

However, vinnie is not one of those people, as it happens. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…. or the other. To each his own.

Speaking strictly for myself….. I have to admit that it’s getting hard to watch these guys fall apart.

C’s are in a bigtime funk…
Even with no KG and losing Rondo in the 3rd period the C’s should of beat the Pistons tonight and not doing so is concerning.

There seems to be no sense of urgency from the C’s of trying to get the strongest record and best seeding come playoff time and that losing games to teams they should beat may come back to haunt them.

The lack of points in the paint tonight also did not help the C’s chances of winning as it has been a problem all season long which was evident again tonight .

I had a bad feeling this would be a long road trip and with KG out and maybe no Rondo I fear things will not get much better in Dallas either…unless Dallas takes us for granted being undermanned and we can sneak a win by them..

As bad as it has been

Don’t expect anything to happen soon (regarding trades)

I’ve made my stand, I don’t think trading any of the Core-4 is beneficial.

But if it does happen, it won’t be until after March 1st. So, between now and then we either sink or swim.

I will say though, if we continue to stink it up, it may get REAL ugly. I’m not sure any of our core players will be capable of handling this gracefully (except maybe Ray). I feel dirty for saying this

I think Rondo deserves some form of punishment as it was evident he was showing up the ref by throwing the ball at him.

Something is bothering Rondo, and I think it’s getting obvious that it’s serious. We can speculate on WHAT it is, but we can’t know until we know. But it’s something.

If throwing the ball ...

at the refs is a suspend able offense , I think then Rondo should get suspended.

If thats the rule, I think the NBA should enforce so that the players do not get into the habit of throwing balls at the refs on a regular basis when they get upset at them and it becomes a trend.

Rondo got fouled and there should of been a foul on Detroit and he had every reason to be mad at the refs who blew the call or just did not want to call it.

I just think Rondo should of maintained his cool and not thrown the ball at the ref which looked deliberate as Rondo just walked away from the ref after throwing the ball and did not even try to plead his innocence or apologize …just my 2 cents though.

if it is a rule then one would have to define "throwing the ball at the ref with bad intent or anger"...and so on. How much anger? Do you have to hit him?

if you didn’t throw the ball at the ref but rather throw it another direction that would be delay of game….as well irtshould

But please Note!!! Throwing the ball at the ref with anger IS INDEED against the rules!!!! And that is why he got a technical …but if what Rondo did tonight deserves a one game suspension then the rules have become quite absurd. Now if he bounced it off the side of his head and knocked him down….then maybe.

Flat out embarrassing

I know where this season is going for the Celtics and it is not good, not good at all. The players will keep fighting but Poor Passion, Poor Energy, and Poor Talent – Yes I say Poor Talent is going to get you beat most nights. The low end of this is 24 wins and 42 losses. The top end is 35 and 31 and a six seed with an opportunity to take on the Atlantic Division winner. I am not sure who will be on the Celtics in April let alone November this year. Detriot, Cleveland, and Milwaukee will probably pass us in the standings. Doc and Danny could both be shown the door in two years time. Rondo gets traded and all you have is Paul Pierce, Mr Celtic himself.

…if I were Doc I would tell the guards to back up 20 feet and let the opposition have the jump shots. Seriously.At least that way maybe(I say maybe) they can get the defensive rebound because right now the big men have to cover the guards mistakes and clearly they don’t have the desire or skill to block out once the shot goes up.

That game was just bad. I don’t think the Rondo thing was a big deal. The big deal was how the team played.
They really have to get some rebounds. The pistons got so many offensive rebounds I couldn’t believe my eyes. The turnovers were ridiculous, did they hit the 50 turnover mark? The whole game was bad. Well no time to think about it I guess.

well.. it can't get worse than this..

I hope they make the playoffs with the 8th seed and give the Heat a run for their money. But they will be better off missing the playoffs and getting a lottery pick. they stink and that’s why rondo picked up those techs so he wont have to be a witness of the ugly truth.. let the young guys play through the hard times and learn something.

Sign the KG and Allen to 6-7mil contracts with a big name free agent.. Hibbert, McGee or Howard. Try and keep Bass and maybe avery, but you need to pick up a backup PG that can make assists. overall this team is unbearable to watch with zero offense and a defense that plays good for 3/4’s of a game and gets too tired to finish off games.

Is Ubuntu dead???

This Celtic team just doesn’t seem to work well together anymore. Whether it’s friction between Doc and the players or just the players themselves, it’s obvious that something just isn’t right. Has Rondo undermined the entire team with his attitude? Has Doc started to lose the veteran players and they just aren’t listening? Does the entire team realize their window is shut which makes it much tougher to stay together as a strong unit?

After the Toronto debacle Doc ripped into the team. In the past that would have lit a fire and ignited a prolonged stretch of good play. And the team meeting with the veterans saying all the right things afterwards seemingly would help get the team back on track.

However all the words have resulted in losing games to bad teams in utterly embarrassing fashion. Something HAS TO CHANGE to shake up the entire organization because the spark of this team is dwindling with each pathetic performance…

Get it, people? He’s not. Stop this crap. We need to rebuild from scratch, and that means draft picks. The only way we get a valuable free agent this summer is by overpaying them and I’d rather trade Rondo, Allen and Bass for a few first round draft picks. I would trade Rondo for a shot at Sullinger and then I’d draft Austin Rivers. Now THAT’s a team that gets you excited for the next 10 years.

Trade Rondo for a top 5 pick

I read on a Hornets blog (from their writers) this possibility. If they get the third pick in the draft, they could pair Rondo with Gordon and send us that third pick. If they said it, maybe it’s not a crazy idea. The Raptors might also be another team willing to do it in case they don’t want another forward. They already have Bargnani and Valanciunas. Who knows what’s avaiñale out there this day? I’d be more than happy with Sullinger and Rivers on this team.

I want to watch but . . .

I’m not sure how much more bad basketball I can take. I get sad and depressed and in a horrible mood. Not very fair to those around me. It would be easier to take if this group hadn’t already been so great. I mean, I’m glad they were but they’ve fallen so far so fast and I wasn’t expecting this.

The highlight for me was Rondo throwing the ball to the ref for a quick 2nd T! hahah. I mean, it was a stupid move but it was bound to happen… I mean, not just with the C’s but with the entire league… I think the condensed sked is affecting the refs’ too ‘cos they’ve been making more than usual awful calls for everybody. Somebody’s gotta stick it to da man! hahah.

Next up, Dallas. A team we haven’t beaten since what? 1864?

It seems strange to me that we keep referring to Bradley, Moore, Wilcox, as future building blocks, when all over the league there are guys that are WAY better playing behind starters on their teams. Courtney Lee, Mayo, Corey Brewer, Mosgov, Barea, Ilayosova, D. Williams, and on and on. I would trade just about anybody on this team— and i think we could get some of those guys listed above with a veteran (Pierce and Piertus/Wilcox +2nd round pick to Minny for D.Williams, Milicic, and Wesley Johnson, for example. or Allen Bass, and others to Denver for Mosgov/ Brewer. Look at SAC and GS too—- just a thought.

Not sure those guys are way better

Out of all the players you listed only Derrick Williams is clearly better than the Celtics bench/rookies right now. Clearly is the keyword, of course those other guys can outplay our bench/rookies it’s just they don’t do it on a consistent basis and might cost a lot more money. Also the other teams that have them would want our guys.

Sadly Doc is locked in

For what…another 8 years? I like Doc as a players coach, I really do, but I think this team would do so much better if they had a coach that was more of a strategist. Doc’s just not making the right adjustments it seems. Not all on him of course, but the team just plays so predictably.

Can we please....

Stop talking about this team contending for anything other then Ping Pong balls. If there were an on/off switch don’t you think they would have flipped in on by now? This is about to get a whole lot worse. We played the bulk of our schedule thus far at home against the little sisters of the poor and are struggling to stay above .500. Now we go out on the road and will be facing the better teams in the NBA. It is only going to get uglier.

This is the ending we tied ourselves to in the summer of 2007. It’s been a great ride but now it is time to move on and focus on the future.
