This is about the last news I wanted to hear this afternoon.
Pregame: Bass (knee) out 10-14 days - Boston Celtics Blog - ESPN Boston
Celtics top reserve Brandon Bass will miss 10-14 days with inflammation in his ailing right knee. Bass felt some discomfort in his right knee during a win over the Knicks on Feb. 3. He sat out the following game against the Memphis Grizzlies, but played in three games last week. Celtics coach Doc Rivers said the news came as a bit of a surprise to him, informed by team trainer Eddie Lacerte on Sunday morning that Bass was out for today's tilt with the Bulls, and is almost certainly out through the All-Star break. "We knew his knee was bothering him, but then he got the treatment, and he missed that one game [vs. Memphis], so yeah [it was a surprise]," said Rivers. "There was nothing said after the Toronto game. Then Eddie called me this morning and told me he was out, and out for a while. That was a surprise."
Oh, and by the way, Jermaine O'Neal is out too, so it is Chris (I don't know the plays) Wilcox starting with the two rookie bigs backing him up. Wonderful.
On the other hand, maybe the young guys can box out and get after the rebounds a little more. Here's hoping at least.
In more positive news, Keyon Dooling and Avery Bradley are back and ready to play.

So, no Rose, no JO, no Bass
Their loss is bigger than our loss – but why do I not feel over confident?
I hope we see some Jajuan today!

might be a blessing in disguise
i think JJJ will knock down the same jumpers that Bass has been hitting— and we will get a look at wilcox too. This more athletic tandem might show us what an athletic line-up can do for us, and certainly we will know more about these players going into next year. Maybe we slide RA to 6th man ? (if we sign him next year we could slip Green, Ellis, etc in with the first group). Rondo’s value could really be shown with a commitment to this strategy. Its obvious that JO, RA and KG make the game too slow for Rondo— and if we can’t get a big man, we can at least be interesting to watch.
