Sorry, that's about the best dinosaur reference title that I could come up with but I'm tired after a long week and I could only muster up a half effort. Sound like a team you know and love?
Here's a confession: I didn't see the game tonight. Didn't watch it, didn't tape it, didn't even care. I don't think it matters either. In fact, I doubt you are even reading this. Wait, if you read that, you are reading this. My head hurts. Well, many people will skip right past this text and give their own comments because they like attention almost as much as I do. So if you took the time to read this, my apologies. I'll try to make up for it by giving you a preview of the comments below. You see, I don't even have to read the comments to know what people will say. For example:

Blow it up
This team is done!!!
SparzWizard - February 10, 2012
Agreed
Yeah people may be tired of hearing it, but its the truth, what about this lol? http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7gbcn52 Give Atlanta a first rounder or two as well. And entice a Dwight Howard and or Deron Williams in the off season if able. (Yes I’m just talking out of my butt with this idea, just frustration and boredom lol)
Hammerhead7 - February 10, 2012
NOT YET CONVINCED....
Fan post to fix what ails us… take a look.
greensince72 - February 10, 2012
Yuck....
This was a ugly performance by the C’s.
I do not blame Doc one bit for being so mad tonight that you could fry a egg on his head.
fordescort - February 10, 2012
Doc was heated!
Was nice to see him get as pissed as the rest of us have been, but Im not sure its all on the players. Clearly frustration has set in. This team needs to find an identity, be it with or without rondo,KG, etc…AND FAST!
cltc5 - February 10, 2012
He should be mad at himself
for that crappy offensive system
Samg - February 11, 2012
Yikes...
at least Toronto’s mascot is a dinosaur and not their players…
we had NO legs tonight, or anything for that matter, better get some good rest for Sunday:(
EF37 - February 10, 2012
Have a feeling Sunday will not be pretty!
34green - February 10, 2012
Yea Joakim Noah is playing so you know it aint gonna pretty
EF37 - February 10, 2012
Haha
Well let’s just hope that’s the only reason
34green - February 10, 2012
No surprise there.
There has really been no shortage of frustrating losses for the Celtics this season. From the opening tip you would know that they want to give Toronto a freebie instead of having pride in avenging a tough loss the night before. They were simply going through the motions.
LarryBird33 - February 10, 2012
No Effert...
I’m very disappointed they didn’t come out the gate with a good start and not give Toronto a chance at this game. Worse game I’v seen Rondo play, just awful, no offence, no defence, should have been benched in this one.
forever_green - February 10, 2012 via mobile
I wanted to scream through the television...
…at our guys standing around on defense all too often. I swear that once Rondo’s man got around him while Rondo was standing so straight up that his knees were locked. I can take the sloppy shots, the failure to aggressively go at the rim… but to play such sloppy defense was hard to watch.

better or worser then pressing a panic button?….lol
fordescort - February 10, 2012
Gotta be better.
34green - February 10, 2012
Did Rajon just write the Psot-game for Jeff?
Sorry, kind of read like it was going through the motions (smile)
Tenacious D - February 10, 2012
I guess we never know which team we're gonna see
I’d like the one I saw after the first few games and prior to the last two. Which one is the real Celtics?
34green - February 10, 2012
Delusional people will keep telling you, "it's just one game!"
No, it’s not. You know what’s embarrassing? A front court of Aaron Gray and Amir Johnson out rebounding our team. You know what’s embarrassing? Our supposedly Top 5 PG getting outplayed by Jose Calderon. Time to face reality. Same old, same old.
Celticsdude - February 10, 2012
what's more embarassing...
A coach that wont sit its ineffective starters
cltc5 - February 10, 2012
I agree...
tonight was a perfect game to go deep into the bench.
The starters were ineffective, they were tired from last night so had no legs tonight and it would of been good to give them some rest to prep for Sundays game.
I just do not understand Docs resistance to utilize the bench especially in games like tonight.
If Doc does not play the bench in games like tonight when will he?
Also it was very frustrating especially with JO out to see the Steamer benched again and not get any minutes !
fordescort - February 10, 2012
JaJaun only 8 minutes, would have definitely played him more, and would have played anybody health besides Rondo tonight. He made Calderon look like an allstar with 17 & 14 boards.
forever_green - February 10, 2012 via mobile
*
Meant to say assist not boards.
forever_green - February 10, 2012 via mobile
Steamer needed to be in there
The Raptors TV team was talking about how Toronto had nothing to fear inside since we don’t have any shot blockers. Not true — we had a great one sitting on the bench!
Old West Celtics Sox Fan - February 11, 2012
I think tonight was more on side of our starter were to blame. So our starter have to be the ones on the court out of energy, hanging the loss on themselves.
But I agree, I thought 4th quarter should have been Moore, daniels, pietrus, johnson, stiemsma.
jdunn123 - February 10, 2012
yeah right doc should be fired too his stubborn.
reb0undwins18 - February 11, 2012
Absolutely right...
We have a good bench, and frankly Doc should have sent the second team out and told them “you guys are as good as their starters, now go win the game for us.” Instead, we were watching Garnett out there a half-step behind all night, getting even further worn down. Allen played OK, but not well enough to be worth wearing him out.
Old West Celtics Sox Fan - February 11, 2012
From this article it sounds like Doc chose to vent his wrath on a bench player (presumably Wilcox):

Rondo
With the monster game… let the barrage of excuses flow.
Ragetti - February 10, 2012
rondo doesnt show up for half of the games he plays in
he’s a bum!
mdowell04 - February 10, 2012
This, by far, is my fave article of yours, Jeff! :D
I’m serious! I was actually thinking of the same thing that’ll happen here in the comments section…. Pointing out the predictable comments that will be after a very ugly game hahah… i looove it! :D
Well, every time the C’s lose., I always switch channels to other games… The Magic lost in OT, dying by the 3pt-attempts when they’re only down by 2 & they have the best center available…. The Sixers lost to an incredible game-winning shot by CP3 – that’s why he was worth all the trade-rumor-trouble.
There was one thing I liked in this Raptors game though…. Doc calling another timeout in the 1st to “give it” to his troops!
Anyway, a win over the Bulls will definitely shut up our frustrated thoughts… so, cross your fingers, toes, legs, eyes… ;)
japsuki - February 10, 2012
Back to back
we are not that good in back to back games especially when the starters play 30+ Minutes. thus, no energy, no legs and no entushsiaim
Moses Freeman Jr. - February 10, 2012
Let's brace ourselves for that back to back... to back moment soon hehe
japsuki - February 10, 2012
That's actually the next time we play the Raptors...

Could be worse… then again who knows at this point

RAPT ATTENTION
No Sasha, no JO, again no Dooling,
For Raptors no Bargnani, they’ve needed retooling.
But they have Johnson, another Johnson, too,
They all agree a Cs pounding won’t do.
One Raptors possession two Cs went down,
Think they needed a rest, came late into town.
The Raptors are energized, they are tired of losing,
Taking advantage of the Cs who seem to be snoozing.
Doc’s full timeout, told the guys they’ve no emotion,
Called a second timeout, saw a rare Doc explosion.
Q1 Bradley in, even with a sore shoulder,
Brought some energy to the guys who played like they’re older.
Q2 an early spark from Pietrus, Bass and KG,
Bradley playing offense and his stellar D.
Cs are pushed and tossed all over the court,
From the Raptors Cs are playing some other sport.
An unRondo-like game, getting nothing done,
Been like this—throughout—since Q1.
There has been no defense from the Cs starting group,
7:43 left Q3—Rondo’s first hoop.
Cs are dribbling around, not even setting a play,
Feels like the Raptors will get their payback today.
16 point Raptor lead, they’ve gotten there twice,
The Cs offense and defense in Q3 turned to ice.
Rondo flying into the paint, then passing out to the rim,
Shot clock keeps winding down, what’s wrong with him?
For a change of pace, the Cs two-three zone,
KG’s yelling at everyone, he is scoring alone.
Tension between Rondo and Kleiza could not be missed,
It was Kleiza who took Rondo down when he hurt his wrist.
How did the refs miss Pierce getting pushed to the ground?
Doc so angry throughout this game, uttering not a sound.
As the Cs found no energy that could be tapped,
We found, most of all, it was Doc tightly “rapt!”

Back-to-backs
And this ain’t nothing compared to the upcoming schedule! In all honesty I’m happy the Big 3 brought us a championship, but it’s time to go old fellas. Thanks for the wonderful times and our two trips to an NBA Finals. They were unwilling, groggy, beat, uninspired tonight. But yet it was obvious that had this game not been a back-to-back involving a previous OT game, the C’s would have done alot better. Now it’s time for Celticsblog to start panicking and rant once more the “Blow it up” story! I see a 14-13 record by the end of the week. You know what? I can’t wait for this brutal SEASON to end!! The mere curiosity of this team’s future is interesting as it is scary. I’m not gonna be surprised if come March Danny ships out Rondo and seals the fate of the Big 3: missing the playoffs. Guess I won’t be buying any Rondo Boston merchandise, cuz it’s more than obvious he’s a goner once the opportunity arises for DA to trade him away. Sad sad indeed, I had nothing but high hopes for the PG. But seeing D.Rose surpass him greatly in the East and the arrival of D-Will to NJ, the ranks for the once considered “best pure PG” diminishes into an abyss of shame. And until we acquire a big to get REBOUNDS, we will forever dwell in the bottom of the barrel regarding the such.
CBanner18Scout - February 10, 2012
I'm not looking to buy ANY player-specific C's merchandise until after the trade deadline

Doc saying
He got so heated because they couldn’t even execute out of a time-out. Said one person didn’t know the play and that wasn’t professional. I wonder who? Also said he probably should’ve gone back to Bradley. Uh, yeah.
34green - February 10, 2012
Ah but... there's the Bradley-actually-being-injured factor.

The fact of the matter
We have some great players on our teams. They are talented individuals and who know how to play the game. As a unit they are not so great due to experiences-years. They really could help other teams climb the playoff ladder more than they can help us get to the playoffs. The schedule94 games/per week is too brutal for them.

Fork meet Celtics.

putrid. i should just leave it at that. i won’t even write them off. rondo was the main culprit- he flat out stunk, stank and worse than that. i think doc left him out there to punish him. if he’s not hurt he is sulking. played ole on calderon and made soft passes and no penetration. if he is sulking, he’s a major head case.if not, he should be resting and not on the floor.

Are these really the prideful Boston Celtics???
After the Laker loss last night so many kept saying ‘only a one point loss’ ‘nothing to worry about’ ‘Rondo isn’t at fault’ ‘this team is in good shape’ and countless other positive thoughts.
Now after the Celtics got dominated by a terrible Raptors team wonder what can be said now? Tonight was absolutely pathetic. No excuse for the Celtics to play this poorly. Rondo.was awful but he had plenty of company. The Celtic offense looked as if they decided to execute their horrific late game offense for a full 48 minutes. Hard to fathom that a team featuring Rondo and 3 hall.of famers can’t break 80 points against the Raptors.
Inexcusable effort tonight from which even the most optimistic will find little to celebrate…

Rondo's painful descent down the PG ladder is a sad sight for Boston fans
It’s sad to see how NOBODY in the NBA respects Rondo’s shooting and probably never will. He’ll keep this up and I promise to anyone that not only is he gonna get traded, he’ll probably become a bench PG, as the emergence of amazing PG’s will without a doubt continue. Look at how Irving on his FIRST season is leading the crappy Cavs, how Ricky Rubio is giving Minnesota relevancy once more since KG took sail to Boston. D.Rose not only leads the Bulls, he is a 2x MVP, the youngest ever. The CP3 and Griffin duo is all the talks in LA and in the league, Jeremy Lin is creating a MASSIVE buzz! Westbrook is destroying the west alongside Durant and Harden. John Wall and D-Will aren’t getting much love cuz they’re playing for horrid teams, but if they weren’t, the league would be shamelessly pondering “Rondo who?”. Where does Rondo stand now? In the tier of Nelson, Chalmers, Shumpert, man that hurts me inside to see how a perceived great player is sinking into the shadows of others little by little. The Big 4 are coming to an end, and we’ll probably be a bad team again. But then again we might not be, I DUNNO!! So frustrating!!! Maybe I should lay-off the basketball ambiance for a while. sigh

Not long
Knicks are going to be a great team. This year.
JR99 - February 10, 2012

SparzWizard - February 10, 2012
I'm sorry
*Carmelo AND Amare
SparzWizard - February 10, 2012
Correct
They will then be that much better. There’s a ton of talent on that team, and now that that they have a PG, NBA better watch out.
JR99 - February 10, 2012

Horrible game to watch
They played like they didn’t care, that was really the bottom line for me. I’m sure these guys were tired physically and mentally, but they played like they weren’t trying. It was a disgrace really.
p-peazy - February 10, 2012
I have never seen Doc so angry in a post game press conferece
Calling guys unprofessional (though he did not name them), saying they were mentally weak, etc. etc. Only two guys he really said anything positive about were Pietrus and KG. Gotta wonder who the screwups are and if Doc will sit these guys.
vinnie - February 10, 2012
#1, I believe, is Rondo
JR99 - February 10, 2012
Which KG performance was he praising?
Maybe KG was brilliant while I was moving laundry or doing bench presses or something. I thought he was dragging through the whole game, esp. on offense. We had started to see some flashes of the old KG in the last half-dozen games, but not tonight. Not saying it is because of lack of effort — have no way of knowing that — but he would have done better playing 3 minutes a quarter or so. Don’t get me wrong, I love KG, but he just shouldn’t be made to be out there trying to carry things when his legs are just not there.
Old West Celtics Sox Fan - February 11, 2012
Doc:
“Mickael Pietrus, I’ll use him as an example. He’s been here the least amount of time, he knows every single rotation and every single set, because he’s a pro. [Not knowing the rotations and sets is] just unacceptable.”
More here:
http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/celtics/post/_/id/4689653/observations-doc-the-awful-effort
My thoughts exactly on Pietrus… especially those in here enraged by MP3’s “lack of inside offense”… These guys have set plays and roles. Even before he got to play for the C’s, everyone said ha can shoot 3’s… so, in offensive sets, he’s doing what it calls for… to extend the offensive option to the rainbow territory.
japsuki - February 10, 2012
Doc always say's the right things, just hope he can fix this.
Nice to hear Rondo know he was playing like crap, should have sat him self on the bench.
forever_green - February 10, 2012 via mobile
How Aaron Gray and Amir Johnson
can outrebound us is beyond me, but hey, I guess there are more important things other than rebounds.
There was one specific play, I think it was 4 min to go in the 4th quarter where the Cs were trying to make a comeback. A raptor misses a shot and KG starts running to the other side. Nobody rebounds the ball I think Amir just kind of got it and made an easy deuce. Almost puked in my mouth a little.

JR99 - February 10, 2012

JR99 - February 10, 2012
I wish we had a jeremy lin type player
Every game, every chance on the floor this guy is giving his all. He might not be perfect but u can never say the effort and desire isnt there. This is the nba. Every game, every play, players should be going ALL OUT. Lin probably makes a fraction of what tons over over paid guys in the nba make that take games off on a weekly basis. I really do like our team but if we were to blow it up, I would much rather a squad of average hard working guys like the nuggets, than a team with a “superstar(s)” that take their pay, their skills, and their opportunities for granted

SparzWizard - February 10, 2012
Doc, Rondo, 3 Hall of Famers = 74 points??? Something just doesn't add up
Celtics were outrebounded again but that doesn’t really matter I guess.
Looking at the 74 points for the Celtics I keep waiting for it to update thinking the 4th quarter points haven’t been factored in. Forgetting everything else it’s just hard to believe how inept the Celtics offense can be.
Not a huge fan of the +/- stat but some use it to defend a player’s performance. Rondo was 2-10 from the field with 5 TO’s and a +/- of -16 that makes sense.
Judging by the +/- Doc needs to find more minutes for Marquis Daniels ASAP. He scored 4 points and only played 9 minutes but myst have been the catalyst for the Celtics brief period of great play. The C’s were a startling +10 in his limited minutes so maybe he is the mysterious cure to the Celtics offensive woes!

First, we need to Blow it up, then fire Doc Rivers, then Danny Ainge, then trade Pierce, Rondo and Ray Allen for Jeremy Lin, Aaron Gray, and a 43 year old Steve Nash.
After this, we need to forfeit the next 4 games. Just to admit defeat publicly and let it be known that there is absolutely, positively no hope for this team. I tell you it’s all over people.
Also, Rondo is terrible. I played him one on one and I just kept dunking on him. He was wearing a shirt that says “I suck” for some reason

You make jokes Black Mass
But TRADE FOR STEVE NASH! He is leading the league in assists right now and is one of those few guys (like Ray Allen) who doesn’t seem to age. He plays his heart out every game and has been cursed having to lead poorly assembled squads most of his career. With Steve Nash, teams can no longer play 5 on 4 defense when the ball is in our possession with Rondo at the helm.
PHX gets to rebuild with an all-star talent point guard in/approaching his prime and Nash gets to go the distance with a quality team for once in his career. If we can throw in draft picks or O’Neal rather keep him for big man depth) in order to get Gortat (or to a lesser extent Lopez), MAKE IT HAPPEN! With Nash filling the huge-gaping hole in our offense which is a point guard who is unable to shoot the ball, then we suddenly have the deadliest shooting offense in the league!
I don’t care what anybody says, and granted, the lack of a legitimate big man to bang around in the paint and grab boards and properly compliment KG is a close second, Rondo not being able to buy a basket from the field is KILLING us! The main advantage of Rondo is his speed, if he’s not using that, defenders back way off him and offer better help defenders to our other players who can actually shoot and dare him to take the shot.
If he’s not running and constantly pushing the ball, wearing defenses down, and being forced to take more shots than anyone cares to see him take, then he is rendered useless and is a huge offensive liability. I really did love the idea of signing Howard and him, Rondo and Green flying up and down the court like noble steeds across the plains of the mid-west blowing by the opposition like figments of their imaginations, but enough is enough.
Rondo is a head case and is NOT the future of this franchise. Trade for Nash, that’s a HUGE start. Get another big in the process if you can pull off that general managerial trickery Ainge to help us THIS year, and after we go all the way (Banner 18) and our new and improved “Old four” show the world that experience, heart and basketball smarts will always prevail, Dwight Howard will realize his destiny and how our Jurassic 4 can legitimately compete for another 2 or 3 titles with him (DH12) manning the middle.
Your line up this year
PG:Nash, Dooling, Bradley
SG:Allen, Daniels, Moore
SF:Pierce, Pietrus, Pavlovic
PF:KG, Bass, Johnson
C:Gortat, Wilcox, O’Neal or Stiemsma (depending what deal is made to get Nash)
This team goes all the way and is ultimately what makes DH12 choose Boston and then to make it work, Nash, Allen and Garnett all come back on a fraction of their current salaries so we can give Dwight his pay day and keep our current bench all-stars Bass and Pietrus (lock these dudes up Ainge!) and then give Green a one year “prove yourself” deal which he gracefully accepts for all believing in him, and sticking by him in a time of need. And look at that same roster next year with a few tweaks and upgrades.
PG:Nash, Dooling (maybe), Bradley
SG:Allen, Daniels (maybe), Moore
SF:Pierce, Green, Pietrus
PF:KG, Bass, Johnson
C:Howard, Gortat, Wilcox
I say between Dooling, Daniels and Pavlovic keep whoever plays the best the rest of the way and see if there’s anything better in the 2nd and 3rd tier free-agents market this summer, but overall, I don’t have any major problems with them. It’d be interesting to start Pietrus and let Ray be our 6th man, 3-point threat off the bench to lead the second squad.
I know I went on a bit of a fantasy rant, but the bottom line is get rid of Rondo, I don’t care if our average starting five age would be like 35, with the Big Three on the brink of dismantlement and Nash with his last true shot at a ring and no contractual obligations beyond this season, you pull that trigger. Nobody believes we’re going anywhere this year so why not do it with former 2x MVP, current league-leading in assist, SHOOTING point guard instead?

It was mostly pent-up anger
So it all typed out pretty quickly actually. Forgot to mention how, say we don’t go all the way with that Nash in green scenario, that would leave us with even more cap-space for Celts rebuild 2012 (Howard and Williams, perhaps?).
Mikey Bizzle - February 11, 2012
I really think its not the players. Its the coach, I love doc but hes gotta use all the tools hes got in his bag. Its not like the young ones havent proven themselves useful. The blow it up button? Sheesh. Some fans are really fickle minded. Please remember that you cant win them all. The best teams have bad days. The worst teams have good days.

I think there is something to what you say.

Talent should out
Granted teams have off nights. Granted in the round of 82, er 66, teams will coast. On those nights, weaker teams will play them close. Til about the 4th period, when the better team goes into a higher gear and ends it. Our Cs coasted, right off the road. Not being physically dominant, they have to play hard. Main guys arent bringing it, may as well run the Pine Gang.

Yup
Glad to see Jeff has the same mentality I do… this team is boring. Who cares. Either fix the massive problems to make us a contender… or blow it up. Until then… “yawn”…
I too missed this game. DIdn’t even care to watch it. I haven’t been this bored watching the Celtics in years.
LarBrd33 - February 11, 2012
im glad i watched the jeremy lin show instead.
pure basketball clinic that he put up tonight against the Fakers.
At one point even Kobe was guarding him coz he was tearing it up unlike the way kobe being miles away from Rondo.
I betcha the next time we face NY, we would be destroyed.
bopna - February 11, 2012 via mobile
Nah
Not if Carmelo plays. New York Knicks have two teams. The Jeremy Lin team, and the Carmelo/Amare team…only one of them will take the title of the Knickerbockers! Of course, Carmelo is their weak-link with all of his ballhogging skills whereas Jeremy is the one who leads the Knicks to a brighter success.
If Carmelo leads, the Knicks will be a below average team. If Jeremy Lin leads…then, well, they’re pretty darn good!
SparzWizard - February 11, 2012
People are not so stupid
Melo, and certainly Stat, understand how to play the game. They will toe the line, with Lin as the leader of the offense, like any good point guard must be. Tho some have doubted Melo on this, seeing him on the sidelines genuinely thrilled by Lin’s performance makes it pretty clear that he’s just gonna make them better.
The Knicks are going to seriously contend, this season. Once Melo and Stat return, that team will be very, very hard to beat. Lin – Shum – Melo – Stat – Chandler, and the pretty damn good bench that we’ve seen over the past 4 games…. that’s a great team. They’re coming together… and right now, I’d take their chances this season over the Celtics’. And it’s not even close.
JR99 - February 11, 2012
I agree, though I've not great confidence in D'Antoni to manage it all.
clover - February 11, 2012
Nope
When Melo comes back…it’s going to be me first team second. Hence the reason why they lost to the Celtics last year. Hence the reason why they’ve been starting so bad lately.
SparzWizard - February 11, 2012
Isn't Rondo young
Old guys are going to play bad on B2B nights. But Rondo looked older than Ray and Kevin. His unforced TO’s are really hurting this team. And all those missed out of control layups are the same as turnovers.
Samg - February 11, 2012
There are now 18 PG's with better A/TO ratios than the "best pure point guard in the league".

Why not just make Rondo come off the bench see how he reacts to this change? If he starts being moody and acts up the a trade would be justified. But if he somehow takes the challenge positively we just might see the Rondo that went headto head with DRose in that playoff series with the bulls.
