Looking for crumbs?

Just a smattering of news items from around the NBA. Starting with a great zing.

Green Street " Big Baby: ‘The only thing I know is that I got paid a little bit more money’

Asked what Davis brings to the Magic, Dwight Howard said, "Food. Drinks. By the time he brings the food, there’s no food left. He usually eats it before he brings it to the table."

Kevin Love, Minnesota Timberwolves approaching deadline for extension - NBA - SI.com

The deadline for players from the 2008 draft class to sign an extension is 11 p.m. Central time Wednesday. If the Wolves and Love do not come to agreement, the new face of the franchise will become a restricted free agent this summer.

UPDATE: Report: Kevin Love, Wolves agree to 4-year deal - CBSSports.com

Flip Saunders' Firing Should Only Be First Step In Wizards' Reconstruction - SBNation.com

Team owner Ted Leonsis has preached patience to fans with the team's youth, pointing to the Oklahoma City Thunder as an example of a young club that took their lumps and improved over time. Leonsis is right that taking the slow and steady route can work if done properly. But the Thunder never sunk so low to the point where they were not even close to competing with even the below-average NBA teams. As Bullets Forever noted on Monday, the Wizards have been embarrassed in seven of their 19 games (counting preseason) this year. This kind of ineptitude just leads to more ineptitude, and it can't continue.

Details emerge of league’s new revenue sharing plan | ProBasketballTalk

Looks like the NBA is going with a "pool" system for revenue sharing, something that is dramatically different in both style and amount than it was in the last labor deal.

Bulls F Deng hopes to avoid surgery on left wrist - NBA - SI.com

Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng hopes he won't need surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist.

NBA: 2011-12 All-Disappointment Team - ESPN - Hey, no Celtics on this list. That's always nice.

i wonder what baby has to say about this

kind of a d*** move on howards part…and im no baby fan.

I think he would say: " Are you gonna finish that?"

please

no masked profanities – thanks

Sadly

Bbd probably is never going to be taken seriously

It was a joke that I really, really doubt BBD took much offense to. They’re supposedly good friends so what’s the big deal again?

Maybe he can punch DH in the face and break his hand again.

It's looking like Kevin Love will not be joining the Celtics next season

Love and the Timberwolves just agreed to a 4 year $62 million extension

well that sucks

I was hoping he’d take the QO and be a UFA the next season.

Marc stein says...

Not so fast.

“@ESPNSteinLine: Wolves have been unwilling to budge from four-year, $62M offer to Love, who’s eligible for same five-year, $80M deal Westbrook got from OKC”

Roy could we sign him to an 80 mm offer sheet after the season?

Oh man I really wanted Klove. Oh well as long as we get our vets back for a lowered rate. And get a couple of servicable bigs we will be fine during this rebuilding period.

hah

you had to be ignorant to believe the Celtics were getting Kevin Love anyways. Live-long Los Angeles guy is going to inexplicably sign with Boston… and the Timberwolves are going to inexplicably refuse to match? Better shot of signing LeBron James.

A moot point now but you never know

The Timberwolves organization doesn’t exactly have a great track record

is not always about money but the chances of a title
Sadly it's not the twolves blowing it (that happened many times and will continue to in the future)

It’s that players flock to the biggest markets and generally warm weather. Boston is a big market but it’s smaller than LA NY Miami etc. and weather wise the players don’t like the cold.

You know where PP is from right? If not he grew up in Compton. And signed withBoston. And why not the Celtics? Its not always about the money you know. And FYI Klove didnt even grow up in LA.

+1

And I don’t know why you keep using that lifelong Los Angeles guy argument, LarBrd33. I told you he grew up in Oregon up until graduating from high school.

I’m also sure that I mentioned his close high school teammate (who he also won a state championship with) was Landon Ainge, Danny’s nephew. Not to mention the fact that he modeled his game after and watched hours of videos on Bill Walton and Boston’s original Big Three.

Maybe they've decided enough is enough.

I always thought this year the T-Wolves had potential if they could keep it all together, perhaps one more player and they will be very dangerous.

Never thought I'd see the day ...

when players actually WANT to stay in Minnesota, and DON’T want to play for Boston

If KLove doesnt sign smart money says hes looking to go elsewhere and not just because of the cash. Maybe we should let KG talk to him about moving to Boston.

DAMN

i wouldve loved to make a run at love. too bad

khan holds all the cards in this one...

Love ain’t goin nowhere…its just an issue of how much teams would overpay via offerdheet which MIN would just match..either way they may even save some cash.

not sure why people are crazy about Love

Hes a good player but not a franchise player. nor am i even close to being confident he will become a good first option on a winning team. Any time you pay max for a non-franchise player its not a good deal
