Last year the Celtics sent Rondo and the Big 3 to the All Star game. Something tells me that number will be lower this year.
After their shocking but cathartic demolishing of the Orlando Magic last night, the Celtics are 7-9 on the season. Up until then, they had had only beat the Wizards and other cellar dwellars. You could make a case that the Celtics two best performers this season didn't even play in team's most impressive win of the year. Based on those factors, it is hard to get a feel for which of the Celtics deserve to be in the All Star game this year.
I think I would at least make a case for Rajon Rondo. He's 2nd in the league in assists and tied for 9th in steals. He's been a bit inconsistent, looking brilliant at times and invisible at others, but the highs tend to outweigh the lows in my book. Last time I looked he was the only one to register a triple double in the NBA this year.
Early in the year Ray Allen was absolute money, but he's cooled off a bit and is currently hurt. Paul Pierce has gone the opposite direction. He was too out of shape or hurt to play like an All Star early in the year but has carried the team for the last couple of wins. Brandon Bass also shows up on the ballot (no Jermaine O'Neal, rightfully so) but as happy as I am with him coming off the bench, he probably shouldn't be in the All Star conversation right now.
But what do you think?
Feel free to go vote for the All Star starters here.
After the break are the Celtics players that are on the All Star Ballot - along with some very basic stats (through Sunday).

So, do any Celtics deserve to be in the All Star game as of now?

Honestly....
Theres a case that Rondo could be the only one, but Pierce seems to be on the up and up. So right now I say Pierce and Rondo. Ray was a possibility early on, but since his hot start, teams have been focusing on him with their gameplan and he in turn hasnt gotten many shots. KG…no way, BASS has outplayed him.

Most probably RR and PP..
but KG and RA could sneak in, esp. when all-star caliber players like horford get injured..
Rany - January 24, 2012
Rajon for sure
Paul probably. Ray and KG could sneak in.
Brandon deserves too.

You could make a case for......
Rondo, Pierce and Allen.
One thing might be a given so far is that KG doesn’t deserve it.

Rondo
Not really sure about Pierce, unless he goes off completely. If the Sixers and Pacers continue their current success, I can see someone from their rosters taking a Forward spot in the ASG.

Need to win more
Unless we start winning more and get above .500 I doubt any of the Cs will make it. Last night was a nice start. If so I can see Rondo making it.

Let's not vote for any of them!!!
So they can stay home, rest, and improve their conditioning.
No need to have our guys get worn down over the All Star break.

I know that Rondo deserves it
but I would rather have our players workout in Boston, getting ready for the long stretch after the all star break:
February 28th, 29th,
March 2nd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 19th
That is simply brutal with no more than 1 day between any games
