Ainge created a bit of a stir with his comments today. Some silly blogs even went so far as to write long posts about it. But he's (perhaps correctly) wondering what all the big deal was about.
Ainge: If a trade can help, 'We'll do it
"It's just obvious," Ainge said. "Of course if we get the opportunity to make a trade that will help our team, we'll do it. I guess I was stating obvious answers and it became like a really big story. "We've all known there's a window for this group, so we're constantly evaluating that and been evaluating it for the last couple of years," he continued. "I don't have anything on the books. I don't have have anything imminent. There's nothing out there that I'm actively doing. I'm being patient with this group of guys. They believe that their much better than they're playing right now, Doc [Rivers] believes they're much better than we're playing right now. I believe that too."
Like I said, Ainge doesn't read blogs, so maybe he legitimately didn't know how big a deal his words were going to be at this time. But with the growing number of rumors out there, his "stating the obvious" is going to create a stir.

Ainge never gives up Any info, not that I’d expect him to. Just wish he would say Pierce was safe as a Celtic, to ease my nerves.

Hard to state the obvious without others getting confused when your tongue has a split in it...

Yea, well Ainge won’t get much in return for any of the Big 3. The fact is they’re aren’t any young promising players out there. Why on earth would u trade your franchise player in Paul Pierce, at this stage in his career.
Hope that these guys improves throughout the remainder of the regular season, then rebuild after the season is over. It’s going to be tough because there won’t be much on free agency market of 2012. The reality is the Celtics organization will have to go through hard times in order to be relevant again after the Big 3 leave.

What a whole big fat load of nuthin.
Criminy, why aren’t we talking about actual stories like the question of who is going to play point guard on Friday night if Rondo can’t go?
Is Dooling healthy enough to play again? If not – is it going to be Smooge or Bradley? Or Daniels?
All this ‘trade talk’ is based on vacuum.

I think...
Ainge has the right game plan and made the right comments.
He wants to be patient with the big 3 to give them more time to see if they can turn the season around, but if he gets the opportunity to make a trade that will help our team, he will do it.
Seems like a pretty fair and sensible course of action to take.

"... there's a window for this group ..."
Unfortunately, the window is closed. Sometimes believing they are much better than they are playing now is just a moral victory. What matters the most is they can prove their belief by actually playing better than they are playing now. I hope that day will come before it is too late.
