Time to take out your angst on some poor, unsuspecting, under-performing slob of yesteryear. Nominate the worst Celtics ever and we'll put them to vote in a day or so. I'll even pick some of your explanations to add to the post - so feel free to get creative when you state your case.
And if we have enough fun with this, we might even have to stretch it out to a starting 5 lineup.
Have fun.

Eric Fernstein from the early 80 Celtic teams was the worst Celtic ever.
With Greg Kite coming in a close 2nd.

Kite
I suggest a look back at the Finals where he played his ass off when no one else was available to play center. This “award” should go to someone who sucked and didn’t try or care, not someone who used his limited talents to the best of his abilities.
If Kite had been around in 2010 there might well be another banner in the rafters.
At least he would have landed 6 hard fouls on Pau.
spinetingler - October 25, 2011
No need to look back at the 87 finals...
as I saw every single minute of those finals games and the minutes Kite played.
I agree Kite played hard, gave it his best effort and played to the most of his abilities.
The problem is the best of his abilities was limited since he was a overall limited skilled player and and at least I think one of the worser Celtic players (talent wise – not effort wise) to wear a Celtic Uniform.
Just my 2 cents though.

an intentionally omission of the "o" in Blount?
Are you attributing this to a stereotype?
I want answers!!! Argh!
KG's Knee - October 24, 2011
well I meant this in several ways actually
1.) He said his name was pronounced BLUNT at one point ..he was so supid however probably even he didn’t know the right way.
2.) BLUNT is another word for a “joint” and he always looked like he was stupid and high
3.) Webster defines BLUNT as a) : slow or deficient in feeling : insensitive b) : obtuse in understanding or discernment c): dull
D) : having an edge or point that is not sharp
NEED I SAY MORE?

Master Po - October 25, 2011
Agreed
I wondered how deep this would go before this poster boy for “’no guaranteed contracts” would show up. Good work, not long.
There have been other bad players but not having skill is one thing. Mark Blount and Celtic are an impossible connection for me.
Now in terms of highest wasted draft choice – Michael Smith or Gerald Green I guess

It brought back bad memories of life after Bird….I think actually Bird was still on the team then, but he was out because of his back that year, and then he retired the next year. Awful team. I have always despised the Raef trade. I had a lot of love in my heart for Antoine, but for Danny to just dump him for one of the worst contracts in NBA history was dumbfounding…plus, everyone knew how bad his knees were.
Yes, I realize Raef led to Theo which led to Ray, but there were other other pumped up contracts we could have come up with to get Ray.

worst celtic ever scott pollard
StarzNBarz - October 25, 2011
it was JJ
and change for Delk and Rodney Rodgers. It wasn’t a bad deal in terms of results that year.
In hindsight, they should have traded Kedrick Brown instead. (actually, I thought JJ looked good that year and KB looked horrid and I would have done the deal differently then). Also should have kept Rodgers around another year or two to make the deal a little more worth it.
slamtheking - October 25, 2011
I agree...
If you are going to trade away a promising rookie for solid veteran playoff leadership, then you should at least keep that veteran around a little while. It wasn’t like he was about to retire. Delk stuck around a little while, though and he was so horrible.

Ricky Davis
Ricky Davis. I hated watching him play. He was a superstar wannabe with nowhere near the game to match. Never took a charge and didn’t want it enough to get to the line. I hated how he would dribble the ball backwards all the way to the center line so he could “direct” players, accomplishing little but looking like a douche and slowing things down.
Before he arrived in 2004, the Celtics were playing some of the most entertaining basketball they had in forever. They went up and down the floor, setting up quickly on offense. They had reeled off 5 straight wins before the trade against some good competition too. After acquiring the “offensively gifted” Davis, they went back to sludge ball and couldn’t score for their life.
Galeto - October 25, 2011
Dan Dickou
On December 17, 2005, as a member of the Celtics, his season was ended by a ruptured Achilles tendon sustained while playing the Chicago Bulls. At the time, he was averaging 3.3 points per game and 2.1 assists per game. On June 28, 2006, the Boston Celtics traded Dickau, center Raef LaFrentz and the 7th pick in the 2006 NBA Draft to the Trail Blazers for center Theo Ratliff and guard Sebastian Telfair. Dickau was then sent to the Knicks along with Randolph only to be waived when the Knicks acquired Jared Jordan. Two days later, Dickau signed with the Clippers.12
On October 1, 2008, Dickau signed with the Golden State Warriors. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed per team policy.3 He played in two preseason games. Against the Portland Trail Blazers on October 8, Dickau played 21 minutes and scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.4 On October 19, 2008, Dickau was waived by the Warriors. On September 23, 2009, Dickau accepted an invitation to the Phoenix Suns training camp.5 He was waived by the Suns on October 21.6 With the Suns, Dickau played in five preseason games.7

seriously Mark Blount???
He was first signed by the Boston Celtics as a free agent on August 1, 2000 and led the team with 76 blocks that season, the most by a Celtics rookie since Kevin McHale in 1980–81.
During the 2003–04 NBA season, Blount emerged as a dependable center, putting up 10.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.29 blocks per game in 29.3 minutes per game. He had a 28-point, 21-rebound game vs. the Orlando Magic on March 1, 2004. dude was close to be a double double guy….. there are probably 100 guys worse than him from the Cs at least 20 in the past 10 years, most of them at the same position.

I actually like Stojko...
I think head coach Chris Ford and the C’s never gave him a real shot to prove himself.
I actually followed his game when he played in Europe and he was considered a pretty decent European player thus the reason he made the Croatian national team so often.
Though he lacked offensive skills, he was a athletic big, had length, decent rebounding skills and was a great shot blocker.
I actually think he could of been one of the top 3 shot blockers in Celtic history if given the chance, since he was so good at it as he showed in his short stints with the C’s.
I think if he had been given some more court time with the Celtics he could of developed into a serviceable big man.
One interesting rumor with Stojko was he was playing with 1 eye (the other was alleged to be blind due to injury).
If this was true Stojko deserves some credit for playing as well as he did (at least in Europe) with such a handicap.

If win shares are your thing...
Your worst career Celtic is: John Mahnken, 1950-53. In 199 games, he averaged 3.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and shot 31.7% from the floor in 10 minutes per game. That was all good for -1.1 win shares.
Recent selections include Avery Bradley, Bruno Sundov, Jerome Moiso, and Stephon Marbury.
Link
If you prefer PER, Wayne Kreklow (1981) is the worst among guys playing 20+ games, putting up a sparkling -1.9 PER. (Across 25 games, he averaged 1.2 points, 0.5 rebounds, 0.4 assists, and 23.4% shooting in 4 minutes per game.)
Roy_Hobbs - October 25, 2011

Robey
I used to hate every time Rick Robey was coming into a game. I was a kid but I can remember cringing at his presence. He may not have been statistically the worst player ever but for one person to make me hate watching a team I loved so much he must have been bad. He was an oaf, a blob, a big slow doughboy!
33-00-32 - October 25, 2011
One good thing Robey did ..
was it allowed Red to make one of the greatest trades in NBA history when he traded Robey straight up for Dennis Johnson who immensely helped the C’s win 2 titles.
fordescort - October 25, 2011
the other good thing he did
was set a monster pick on Andrew Toney in a Sixers/C’s game that had Toney crash into him at high speed and bounce back a good 6-7 feet while Robey never moved and just stood there staring down as his sorry ass.
One of my favorite memories from the early 80’s
slamtheking - October 25, 2011
I...
do not vividly recall that pick incident but …Robey no doubt did have a role on the team of being a physical player and banger off the bench.
I loved the tandem of him and Mchale coming off the bench as they were 2 big dudes who utilized there size well (especially Robey).
I loved it when Johnny Most use to call the 2 of them thumper and bumper….lol
My favorite Rick Robey memory was (it was either in 82 or 83) when he outplayed Kareem when the Lakers visited the Garden duirng a regular season game.
I can not recall if Parish was injured, out with foul trouble, but Robey had to fill in at center for some reason and he did a great job not only muscling Jabbar on the defensive end of thew court and throwing Jabbar off his offensive game, but Robey himself played a great offensive game himself.
